The Mirciem

--++| Physical Appearance |++--
The Mirciem are a race unlike many others. The men and women alike are known to have delicate, hauntingly beautiful features and slightly pointed ears, thinner than that of an Elf. They are typically average height compared to Lightfoots, with poor musculature. Each individual of this race is known to have jet black hair that grows quickly, and is very straight.

They have a unique few eye colors - yellow, purple, and bright silver.

Their skins are known to have an unnaturally pale color during the light hours of the day, but under the moon, the color emits a faint greenish hue. Such has caused the Mirciem to become shunned from many villages and cities alike, being accused of possibly being a type of undead subspecies; though they are genetically similar to humans.

It is said that being looked down upon since their arrival upon Balaria has affected all aspects of the Mirciem, including their tastes in attire. They are usually seen wearing dark clothing; from long, flowy dresses of black silk to hooded cloaks of dark gray, alongside dark reds and purples. Though the typical attire for a Mirciem is gothic, not every single individual is alike in such a way - and some may choose to wear other clothing.

--++| Lifespan |++--
The lifespan of the Mirciem is more similar to the Lightfoots than the Elves - reaching adulthood at 20 years of age, though they have been known to live longer than Lightfoots, instead able to reach the ripe age of 150. Unlike them, however, they keep their oddly youthful, terrifying beauty until the age of 100, in which their hair becomes a stark shade of white.

--++| Unique Traits |++--
The Mirciem are, despite the fear that others have of them, known to be amongst the best of singers, and have hauntingly beautiful voices naturally. A unique, though unfortunate, aspect to this trait is that they must keep their voices lower when speaking. If they were to raise their voices above a certain octave when not singing, they can at best cause those around them to cringe as if hearing nails on a chalkboard and at worst, harm the hearing of the people nearest to them. This is able to be used as an advantage; as if they let out a shriek, they are able to stun those within a radius around them.

--++| Culture |++--
The Mirciem are typically very secluded. They do not often join groups with others of their race, because of their shunned status within most of Balaria, as they dislike drawing attention to themselves. Within the small groups of Mirciem that do form, the individuals are very tight-knit. They look out for one another, aiding equally in the contribution of food and materials. Though there is not any specific leadership within them, they tend to look towards the elder Mirciem for guidance and decisions. A Mirciem is considered an Elder once they have reached the age of at least 100, and their hair has taken on a shockingly-white color. The progression of age for Mirciem varies from Lightfoots somewhat in that individuals are restricted from courting until they are of age, that being 20, as it is believed that one younger than that is too inexperienced with life to begin doing so.
It is common for Mirciem to become performers and singers despite their reputation as being oddly aging, uniquely haunting individuals. Much to the disgust of the Dragonfolk, the Mirciem believe in burying their dead. The deceased is within a dug hole, and dirt is put atop them. Thereafter, the closest living relative is expected to give a speech, highlighting the best attributes and qualities of the deceased individual. The other family members may speak on the deceased’s behalf afterwards.
Unlike many of the other races upon Balaria, the Mirciem do not believe in marriage. Instead, they typically believe that partners may come and go, and there are no set life partners for your entire life. This does not mean that Mirciem may not have long-term partners, or even marry. Rather, most of them do not believe in tying oneself to another for all of eternity. Many Mirciem are known to have multiple partners.

--++| Religion |++--
The Mirciem tend to not believe in any kind of religion. Seen as outcasts, odd beings, and rumored to be a variant of undead; they do not worship the Preceptors - or any kind of higher being. Instead, they believe that the Preceptors brought a curse upon them, that their existence may have been a joke for the Gods, if they even exist. Many Mirciem look down upon those who do believe in the Preceptors, or the Dragons. Instead, they adopt a more practical approach; focusing on their own lives and worth within their communities.
